Providing drinking water is the most important task for a community and is therefore stated as SDG 6: “Ensure availbility and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all”. With a growing city, Uppsala built its first waterworks some time ago. However, the city was expanding fast and the supply of drinking water reached different dimensions. New and modern pumps and waterworks were built further outside the city and the central Pumphuset was closed. Moreover, Uppsala´s drinking water network is 650 km long and 4 large towers (e.g. in the city forrest or in Boländerna) store a huge amount of water.
