Orange Runner: renewal of streets and 9 bridges
What
This project renews the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal and the streets and 9 fixed bridges from Raadhuisstraat to Mercatorplein. The bridges are more than 100 years old and in poor condition. Traffic is getting heavier. And the streets are getting busier.
This will make the bridges strong again. With new posts and a completely new interior. It renovates the monumental exterior and continue to look like now. If we tackle the bridges, we also organize the streets better. With more space for pedestrians, cyclists, the tram and healthy and strong greenery. The activities demand a lot from today’s Amsterdammers, but are necessary to keep the area safe, livable and accessible for the Amsterdammers of the future.
Where
The project works on the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal and the bridges and streets from Raadhuisstraat to Mercatorplein. We also work on the canals and quays next to it.
