You have now arrived at a weir behind Forum. This time, the weir is accompanied by a culvert at the opposite bank (see picture).
On the way here, you should have spotted and discussed the use of the dark grey boxes near Forum. These are actually part of the University’s heat storage system, used for heating the buildings around Campus. During hot days, groundwater is heated up (so the Campus buildings cool down) and pumped underground where it is stored. During colder days the warm groundwater is pumped up and used as a source of heat.
