In the picture you can see a soil profile that might look a bit like the one you made. Over time the litter on top of the soil is decomposed and some fragments resistant to decomposition remain in the soil in the form of stable humus, this gives the soil below the litter layer a darker colour. In this soil however, the dark layer is very small, why do you think this is? 🤔
